AUDEZE
Planar Magnetic Technology
Most headphones use inexpensive, mass-produced dynamic cone drivers in standard sizes from just a few OEM/ODM producers and build their headphones around them. But dynamic cone drivers have serious inherent design limitations that can cause slow transient response and severe break up modes with uneven frequency response. The dynamic driver assembly has lots of glue joints that can degrade over time and cause the sound to get progressively worse.
Cutting-edge planar magnetic headphones
Audeze headphones employ cutting-edge planar magnetic headphone technology for more accurate, high-quality audiophile sound.
Audeze introduce a wide variety of innovative planar magnetic designs. To ensure our headphones perform to the exact standards we use custom-cast magnets of proprietary design.
Planar technology diaphragms thinner than a human hair!
Our oversize diaphragm materials are ultra-thin and made in-house with proprietary processes and equipment. The original diaphragm material was developed for NASA space applications; they needed strong, lightweight films that could be carried into space and survive the radiation and harsh environment.
Good things come in (very) thin packages. One of the most important elements of planar magnetic headphones is the diaphragm. Our oversize diaphragms materials are ultra-thin and custom-manufactured in-house to exacting specifications using proprietary processes and equipment.
Our LCD-4 features one of the thinnest diaphragms in a production headphone anywhere in the world!
Our planar magnetic headphones use proprietary, custom-cast magnets placed on one or both sides of the diaphragm to create a powerful magnetic field.
Patent-pending Fazor technology, first introduced in the LCD Collection, is standard equipment in all Audeze headphones. Fazors are specially-designed acoustical elements positioned on either side of the magnetic arrays to properly manage sound waves passing through them. They enhance transparency by affecting the sound waves generated by large planar diaphragms. A few of the benefits include extended high-frequency extension, better phase response, and lower lower distortion resulting in enhanced imaging and a spacious, more convincing out-of-head imaging.
Audeze’s diaphragms are incredibly thin, light, and extremely fast with uniform drive across the entire surface, all in an effort to do the impossible and reach the ideal implies response. The nano-grade diaphragms of the LCD-4, each of which takes weeks to manufacture, are beginning to blur the line between accepted technology and Audeze’s pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
